About Mike

I’ve been involved in looking at and playing with collaborative software and solutions since the first versions of Sharepoint but took a break from focusing on them till the summer of 2005. My career began with web-application development which I’ve was involved in since from 1997. I’ve worked in a number of roles including architect, lead developer and tea boy on projects ranging from 3-page brochure-ware to 3-tier enterprise apps pumping data into mainframes.

My interest in the collaboration area was re-awakened with an introduction to two pieces of software. The first was something called Groove which is a snazzy little app that for the first time demonstrated to me the power of peer-to-peer (p2p) software for good. The second was from a company called IMlogic (now owned by Symantec) which deals with securing, managing and controlling instant messanging (IM) within the enterprise.
